As you know, last October, excavation work began on the station. The station will be located 35 metres below the parking garage, making it the second deepest station in the network, after Édouard-Montpetit station. In total, the project will require the excavation of 104,000 m3 of rock, the equivalent of 42 Olympic-sized swimming pools!
Today, the teams from Connect Cité, a partnership of construction companies AECON and EBC, are almost halfway through the project. The excavation has reached 18 metres and work is progressing. Excavation is expected to be completed in May 2023 and work on the building portion of the project will begin in November 2023.
ADM has committed to completing its portion of the project in the spring of 2026. Tests will then be carried out by the REM team to connect the station to the rest of the network. The station is expected to be operational in 2027, to the delight of passengers, the community and all employees of the aviation community.
Media visit to the construction site on December 14, 2022
The Public Affairs team of ADM and the REM Station Project Office welcomed a select group of Montreal media to YUL yesterday for a technical briefing on the project and a photo op. Be on the lookout for reports on TVA, Radio-Canada, Global, La Presse and The Gazette for exclusive images of this immense construction site, which is not very visible to those who do not have the chance to cross the construction site barriers!
