There is a significant number of homeless people in Montreal and YUL often serves as a refuge for them. In order to offer them support while ensuring that the premises remain safe for our clients, ADM, in collaboration with the YMCA and the SPVM, recently set up a pilot intervention program.

Since August 5, two counselors are present in the YUL public area and will be able to work with vulnerable and homeless people.  During their duties, these two persons will have to:

• Detect vulnerable people;
• Proactively engage with them;
• Refer and guide these people to specialized resources;
• Act as a resource person for the airport community;
• Act as a support to the operations of the Security and the SPVM.

 

In the coming days and weeks, Kim Lavoie and Dany Huneault will visit the various shops and facilities at the airport to introduce themselves and familiarize with the site. Feel free to contact them if you see a situation that requires their support:
